Liq Eyewear, a 3D printed brand that offers fully customizable frames

Lead by Josep Mateo Muñoz, an industrial designer with more than 15 years of experience in industrial design projects, LIQ Eyewear is a new 3D-printed brand born in the innovative Creax Design, a design and innovation studio in Barcelona, Spain.

Liq emerged as an internal project within the studio; We think it would be a good idea to apply our extensive experience in glasses projects in our own brand, taking advantage of 3D printing: without molds and without stocks and with the advantage of controlling it from our design studio.

we thought that it would be a good idea to apply our experience in eyewear design to our own brand taking advantage of 3d printing benefits: no molds, no stocks, and controlling the whole process from our studio ourselves on demand, focusing thereby on a more sustainable model”

What is the target?

Why 3D printing and what is 3D printing?

3D printing is here to stay, and applied to the world of glasses it has multiple advantages.

Continuous evolution & personalisation

They introduce model improvements periodically in a similar way as we do with software updates. If there is a defect, it is corrected immediately and the product is constantly improving. Sizes, adjustments, very small series, even unique models on request. This is only possible through 3D printing.

An eco-friendly approach & innovative designs

Manufacturing on demand translates into a much more sustainable product than conventional glasses, there is no waste of material as in a classic acetate glasses, they only manufacture what they sell and an isolated component could be printed even if it is discontinued. Thanks to 3D printing they are eco-sustainable.

Liq Eyewear is a team of designers and 3D printing gives them a lot of freedom when design and drawing; In 3D printing the limit is not what they can do but what they can model in 3D: if it can be modeled, it can be manufactured.

Materials used

Polyamide is a natural material, light, warm and nice for the skin and, thanks to 3D printing technology, it allow them to design liquid shapes impossible to produce with conventional materials.

Polyamide is a synthetic polymer of a type made by the linkage of an amino group of one molecule and a carboxylic acid group of another, including many synthetic fibers such as nylon.
